Tax refund could be due to foreign expatriates
Foreign private individuals performing work in Hungary as expatriates may also retain the personal income tax (PIT) refund. As per our interpretation an expatriate could also be eligible for the personal income tax refund with regard to the tax paid in 2021 irrespective of his / her home country.
Government decree no. 560/2021. (IX. 30.) (hereinafter: „Government decree”) issued by the Hungarian Government on 30 September 2021 set forth detailed rules of the tax refund due to families raising children with consideration to the State of Danger.
