New EKAER rules from 2021
The much awaited Decree no. 13/2020. (XII.23.) PM (hereinafter: Decree) on the new EKAER rules entering into effect from 1 January 2021 were finally promulgated on 23 December 2020.
This means that there was not much time for preparations; however, those concerned can calculate with favourable changes overall, since Hungarian legislators were forced to simplify the administrative burdens associated with EKAER from 2021, which is most likely due to the criticism given by the European Commission. The most important favourable change is that in the future the notification obligation will only apply in case of goods considered to be inherent with risk.
In the following, we have collected the most important changes of the Decree, as applicable from 1 January 2021.
